Six modern BNSF coal hoppers with coal inserts and individual packaging. A wagon set for an existing H0 train, without locomotive, track or controller.
Contents and operation
Each wagon has detailed bogies, special wheelsets, an end-mounted handwheel and a coal load insert. All six are individually packed inside an outer box. Length over couplers is approximately 19 cm per wagon. Six times this figure gives about 114 cm without a locomotive; actual formation length also depends on the couplers used.
Prototype and context
The prototype belongs to modern North American BNSF coal traffic, Era VI, with five discharge arrangements underneath. A hopper unloads bulk material downwards, giving it a different operating role from an ordinary open wagon. Repeated sets can form a unit coal train. This is not a historically matching extension for the German DR freight train 21531.
Planning and compatibility
The NEM coupler pockets can be fixed using the supplied screws for knuckle-coupler operation. This does not confirm that knuckle couplers are included; check type and height against existing US stock. The manufacturer lists E320551 (NEM) and E320389 (RP25) as separate AC wheelset options. Changing wheelsets alone does not establish coupler compatibility or suitability for every point. Allow siding length for all six wagons plus a locomotive.
