Description
Five-car ICE 3 München with rainbow stripe, depicting the train from July 2021, digital sound and LED interior lighting. H0 train pack without track or controller.
Contents and operation
The set comprises end cars 403.0 (first class) and 403.5 (second class), transformer cars 403.1 (first) and 403.6 (second), and restaurant car 403.3. The drive is in the restaurant car and powers four axles through cardan shafts, with traction tyres. Current collection changes to the leading end car with direction. Special couplers provide the mechanical and electrical train connection. Length is 142.2 cm.
Prototype and context
The model represents the eight-car prototype Tz 304 München in an initially shortened five-car formation. The rainbow stripe belongs to the specified condition from July 2021, rather than a different locomotive class. Separate Trix extension set 23391 supplies three cars to complete the eight-car train. Adding 142.2 and 83.7 cm gives an approximate calculated length of 225.9 cm.
Planning and compatibility
mfx/DCC with sound, triple headlights, red tail lights, high beam, cab and interior lighting. The manual specifies DCC address 03 and a 360 mm minimum radius; MS2 functions from F16 require software 3.55 or later. Lift each car individually rather than loading the couplings with the weight of the assembled train. Station tracks need the actual train length plus stopping and safety allowance. Separate set 21000 provides track and control, but cannot replace sufficient layout space. Two-rail H0, 16.5 mm; not the Märklin centre-stud version.
