Operation and model details

  • This is a revised model whose chassis with a main frame and loco body are constructed of metal.
  • The model has an mfx digital decoder with 31 functions.
  • It also has a programmable buffer capacitor.
  • All axles are powered.
  • The model has extensive sound functions.
  • It can be operated with AC, DC, Märklin Digital, and DCC.
  • A centrally mounted high-performance motor powers all axles.
  • The motorized prototypical type SBS 10 scissor pantograph with a type DBS 54 slipper can be raised and lowered in digital operation.
  • The white triple headlights with LEDs change over to red marker lights and are digitally controllable.
  • The cab has warm-white LED lighting.
  • The cab doors can be opened, the cab interior details are elaborately reproduced, and the cab has an locomotive engineer figure.
  • The locomotive has metal grab irons and many other separately applied details, such as signs, windshield wipers, a whistle, a bell, etc.
  • The buffer beams have sprung buffers and separately applied brake lines.
  • The factory-installed knuckle couplers can be replaced with the two screw couplers provided.
  • Remote-controlled Telex couplers are fitted at the front and rear.
  • The minimum radius for operation is 1,020 mm / 40-3/16".
  • Length over the buffers 35 cm / 13-3/4".
  • Weight approx.
  • 3.6 kg / 7 lb 14 oz.

Notes from this reference’s manual

  • Lubricate the model before its first run as instructed.
  • Never raise the servo-driven pantograph by hand; it may be lowered by hand for packing.
  • With the supplied screw couplers, curves must have radii greater than 2,320 mm; the 1,020 mm minimum applies to the intended basic configuration.
  • Unplug the Telex cable at the locomotive when changing couplers.
  • An interchangeable air tank is included for use only with the screw coupler.
  • High power demand limits operation with Mobile Station 60652/60653/60657.
  • Analog operation provides only running and direction-dependent lighting.
  • DC is disabled at the factory: to enable it, switch CV 27 bits 4 and 5 off and CV 50 bit 1 on, following the manual.
  • Factory settings: name E 60 10, Motorola address 60 and DCC address 3.
  • Designed for Märklin 1 track; the manual normally recommends grades no steeper than 3%, with gradual transitions.
  • For display case 59961, use the locomotive’s original mounting bolts and the case’s No.
  • 10 washers.
  • Source differences: the original pictogram specifies two headlights, while the model description specifies three white headlights.
  • The controller chart lists the rear Telex twice; the specific manual distinguishes rear F4 and front F12.
  • These sources are shown separately.
  • F2 includes random sounds.
  • Documented keys are F0–F30, not inferred from controller-chart row order.
